About...

Me, Personally

  • I spend a bit of time bouldering. Indoor-only, as of now, but that may change.
  • I like mechanical keyboards, especially ErgoDox.
  • A long time ago, after a project in university, I promised myself to never again do anything web-related, nor ever work with Java again.
My first commercial project was a Java backend for a web application.
Seems like I sell out easily.

My Current Work

My focus is backend software development, slowly but steadily moving ever deeper into ops. Mostly I write software in Java or Kotlin that I then get to deploy it in Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters.

I also have some experience administrating linux servers, writing shell scripts, and parroting other people’s statements about security.

Talks and Conferences

Every now and then I find the time to do talks about various topics for my local Java User Group, or speak at conferences.

Previous topics included:

  • Spring Applikationen mit Grafana und Prometheus überwachen (JUG Bielefeld, 2020)
  • Security Mistakes by Example (JUG Bielefeld, 2018)
  • Wie kommt ein Docker Container in die Cloud? (XP Days Germany, 2018; Workshop; Collaboration with Sascha Rodekamp)
  • Functional Java 8: Let’s have some fun! (Herbstcampus, 2017; Workshop; Collaboration with Tobias Ahlers)
  • jOOQ - Typsicheres SQL in Java (JUG Bielefeld, 2017)
  • Slightly advanced logging (JUG Bielefeld, 2016)
